Wonder if anyone can help ?
Since the Winter Hill switchover my parents IDTV receives no channels whatsoever (picks up 4 but no signal on any of them). Problems first started after the Nov. re-tune when all the BBC channels disappeared, other channels were fine. After this weeks re-tune now no channels at all. It's a Panasonic TX 32DT2 quintrix, there is no option for a manual tune and the factory re-set and automatic search have'nt worked. I suspect the set it not compatible with the new signal standard being broadcast. Other than connecting a digibox is there any way to get the set to pick up the digital broadcast ? Should mention there is a Humax 9150T connected to the set and this works fine, as do all the other sets and boxes in the house. |

The people will go through a step by step guide of how to retune or replace channels on most makes of TV. Please note you must plug the TV in and switch it on. The digital standard has not changed, only the frequencies of each multiplex at Winter Hill. They have been moved to cover the upper part of the band were the analogue channels once lived. That is why there was no need for people to buy new aerials, group C/D is OK. Unfortunately that didn't stop the rip-off cowboy aerial fitters who made a lot of money from daft people. There is a difference between replace channels and retune, you are selecting the wrong one. You need to phone the help line if you can't figure it out for yourself. Lots of idiots phoned radio station phone-in shows on 2nd December and during the early hours of 3rd December to ask what was happening as their TVs had gone off. It's all been advertised for the past 12months regularly and was even mentioned 9 years ago. |

Sounds as if your TV is not compatible with the 8k COFDM standard, that is being used as DSO hits each transmitter. You need to contact Panasonic, but it's unlikely anything can be done, other than, as you suggest, connecting an external box to the TV. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. www.paras.org.uk |

The digital standard has not changed, It has I'm afraid, at Winter Hill it's gone from 2k COFDM to 8k, many early DTT receivers are incapable of receiving 8k. Check *your* facts before giving duff advice, in your incredibly rude and unhelpful manner. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. www.paras.org.uk |

You're getting confused with 16QAM and 64QAM, a totally different kettle of fish. 8k COFDM transmissions have only started in the UK as DSO hits each transmitter. All pre DSO transmissions whether 16 or 64QAM are, and always have been since 1998 2k. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. www.paras.org.uk |

It worked! Incidentally it's a fine novelty having perfect reception here from Winter Hill! In the analogue days the signals were barely useable. OK, I'm exagerating when I say perfect -- there are CCI issues, but the field strength is adequate. Bill |
