Additional Function and Fixed Problem

* Resolved intermittent lock-up issue
* Includes Assisted Retune Pop-up

I'm not sure what "lock-up issue" they are referring to, but a lot of people
have been complaining that response to the remote control has been sluggish
since the last lot of Freeview channel changes, and are assuming that the
new version fixes that.

The "Assisted Retune Pop-up" has caused a lot of people aggravation as they
have found that it pops up every time the machine comes out of full standby.

I think I've worked it out though!

As noted by 'tim', this is an existing feature that you obviously haven't
noticed before.

I'm not sure what "lock-up issue" they are referring to,

The decoding hangs during "live" transmission and "hangs". When I say live
this also included recording whilst in standby. It then fails to decode any
further signals which means that all scheduled recordings, aren't recorded.

The box doesn't completely hang as the scheduled recordings are removed from
the pending list, though the remote control and front panel buttons don't
work so a power off/on is required to remove the fault.

Humax claim that this started with some change in the spec implemented at
"national retune day" though they are wrong as I have been suffering it for
many months before that on three consecutive holidays I came back to find
many recordings lost.

I also suffer from other random non recordings and early termination of
recordings for no reason (I suffered this 2 days ago), a fault which they
don't even seem to acknowledge, let alone try to fix

I had a lot of hard lock-ups (both on live transmission, and coming
back to the recorder after timed recordings), once or twice a week
since the big retune. The unit is completely unresponsive and has to
be power-cycled. Since the firmware update I haven't had a lock-up.

This is on a 9300T.

My 9200 has had a very slow remote response for a few weeks. Often the
volume bar does not appear for a long time after the button is pressed
repeatedly. Sometimes up to about 30 secs.

We have sold a large number of these and also 9150s and 9300s. I have
had no calls from 9200 owners but a number from those with 9150s to
complain that the box produces a static picture regularly when the TV
is switched on and then has to be rebooted. Also recordings from the
epg appear to be unreliable. This seems to have developed since the
retune. I have been out to a number of them and perpormed a full reset
etc etc but with no real luck. the problem also seems to be with new
boxes installed since the retune.

Its very interesting to note that two models of JVC TV have an in-
built hard drive with the Humax menus and software. I have had two or
three of these lock up completely since the retune with a continuous
start-up and rebooting cucle which did not give you time to go into
the menu and try to do a reset etc. I was just about to pronounce the
first one a guarantee failure when I noticed that a static picture
showed very briefly as it started up and before it rebooted.
I switched off again and powered up again whilst repeatedly and
rapidly pressing the channel up button and the whole thing started up
correctly and worked. I then did a full reset and all was well. The
same thing worked with the others.

Their recent e-mail says:

"Due to this situation our engineers visited from Korea some weeks
ago, and working alongside the various broadcasters, have developed
over the air software updates that correct these issues. We have
already commenced broadcasting these updates for the PVR9150T and
PVR9300T (series) units and hope to be broadcasting the PVR9200T
(series) version in the coming weeks."

Is the debate about the words 'hope to be' or is there any other
reason to doubt there will be an update for the 9200?

Since they say "the PVR9200T version" rather than "a PVR9200T version",
that implies that it does exist, and therefore that "hope" must refer to
the timescale.

Well it is a bit of a big hope. They are repeating the PVR-9150T update
next week but still nothing new for the PVR9200T!
