I must be doing something wrong BUT
Since Winter Hill switchover on the 2/12 I have been trying to find out
which TV Channels are transmitted on which MUXs. Most sites I go to have
historical information (ie old !).
Please put me out of my misery and point in the right direction ..Thanks

I heard it will be on low power until 2011, can anyone explain why
that would be so?

Signal strength on LG TV shows as only 46% on ArqB whilst the other 4
all show 70% +.

Located NW Manchester.

so as not to interfere with an analogue service in a neighbouring area
still running.

Yes, the channel used (E55) is used at neighbouring Sutton Coldfield, so
Winter Hill's mux will have to remain on low power until SC's DSO in 2011.

So, basically, all those folk expecting not to have to alter their aerials
to get those channels, who are far enough out, will have a nothe year or so
to wait to tell if its going to work or not?
I wonder how many people have been fooled by this one.
Are there other cases like this going to occur around the country?

I understand the 55 but to what does the 'E' refer?

Thanks.

Bob.

E = Europe.

A55 would be the channel used in the US which uses different standards
and frequencies.

We used to use B1 - B13 for our old 405 line service, the French used
'F' channels for their 819 line service, and so on.

Largely superfluous these days as all European countries use the same
channels (but not the same system) though there are still differences
between countries still using the VHF bands.

However, it does no harm to include it and ensures that in any
international discussion which, I would guess, Mark might be involved in
from time to time, that there is no confusion.

In fact, thinking about it, as we are now all used to LCNs (Logical
Channel Numbers) - which are really programme numbers! - with DTV,
incorporating the 'E' makes doubly certain that it is the UHF channel
that is being referred to
