Default Question about PC monitor and TV

I have hdtv in my living room. I also have a combo pc/tv monitor,
which i primarlly use for my pc..its also a hdtv. In another room I
hav e a older and yet great analog TV. I like to watch my cable shows
at times on the other two, so I set up a splitter and have one cable
go to my analog TV and the other going to my PC/TV monitor. Now, i
have no problem viewing whatever is on my cable system on the analog
TV. All i have to do is put it on channel 03 and with the remote of
the cable pick a channel. On the TV part of my monitor, i have to set
it up with the menu supplied, to do the automatic channel searching.
After doing so, all is fine at that time...Then i go back to use it as
my pc...eventually shut it down, till my next session when erver that
will be...usually a few hours later or the next day. I turn on the TV
part and most of the channels that i was able to view the first time
are gone...It seems that i Lose them after shutting my pc off,
apparently. Why can't it stay as it does on my older analog TV set?
There i did not even had to do any automatic channel searching.

When you shut down the PC/TV, are you actually turning off all powere
to the unit? It's possible that is why it 'forgets'.

I wasn't implying that you should leave your PC on. When you turn off
the PC, is the power to the TV still connected ? The monitors on all
our PCs are plugged into the wall and turn on/off based on the signals
from the PC. Does yours work like that?

Well yes they are both plugged into my power strip. If i turn the p s
off, then there is no power going to either.

I had a feeling that is what you're doing. I suggest you plug the TV
directly into the wall bypassing the power strip and if the TV
_doesn't_ turn on / off with the computer signalling it, you'll have
to manually turn on / off the TV but at least it willl remember
whatever you've scanned.
