Many existing DTT tuners (and IDTVs) can do the HD common on *other* EU countries (DVB-T/MPEG4). None can do DVB-T2 yet! Surely all the 'tuner' needs to be able to do is receive the signal on the appropriate frequency and with the correct bandwidth and de-modulate it (into a bitstream containing the MUX in these cases). No, I have it on good authority that DVB-T2 cannot be 'software decoded' using the hardware of existing DVB-T1 receivers. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. http://www.paras.org.uk/ |

Yes - I actually have a Nebula DigiTV PCI card in my PC - the software for this is called DigiTV-HD - BUT it still won't receive the new Freeview HD! DVB-T2 was only finalised earlier this year and these trials (in 2006?) used DVB-T/MPEG4 |

Those were DVB-T, not DVB-T2. So for the test transmissions, you could use a standard USB Freeview tuner stick and decode in software (but not in real time, I recall reading). Since we're going to be the only country with DVB-T2 for a while, any HD tuner is likely to be expensive. |
