My hdtv Philips, has a function in the features department called
Intellisense and it only be used via remote control. I tried to use it for the first time last night and there are no explanations on how to use it and what to look for in the manual. It just shows the button. Well, i pressed the button and the 3 primary colors appear one after the other..red, blue and green. there are shown on each screen a top and bottom and left and right spots of the same colors..but not knowing if there is anything one must do with those 'spots'? There are no buttons on the remote to move them, if they are to be moved..anyhow i do not see if that can correct my seeing blue linings around some figures or yellow. Beyond warranty, so no help there...repair co...wants to charge just to look at it. I have no idea if this is a symptom of a dying TV that is only 6 years old and had it repaired 3 years ago with a replaced module. |

Its an automatic convergence function, and should be in that section of your owners manual. Google is your friend. Try Intellisense Phillips TV and check out the links. Since you didnt provide a model # with your post, I just dug thru the general links. The pdf files are also available on how to use the feature if you cant find your owners manual. BTW, since this is a rear projection crt based television, that blue halo could be caused by poor focus on the blue crt, poor convergence, OR just dust accumulationing on the top of the upward facing crts. I used to take the screen off and clean my old Pioneer RPTV once a year, usually right before the fall shows and football started. It made a difference in picture sharpness. And you have had the TV for 6 years and you have never adjusted the convergence? wow! No wonder your picture loks wacko. Klaatu |

I wish you could send me that particular link...BTW, its a 55PP9401 TV Don't forget i had a complete module replaice 3 years ago...and never was informed that I should do this convergence bit, with the possible exception of moving the TV set, which I had not. |

It just says push the button, and the TV will automatically adjust convergence and focus. I also saw several people who had convergence issues, and they had to replace modules and power supplies. There is a reason that I never buy Phillips TV or electronics. If it wasn't for Sonicare, I would never buy anything from them. |

Well, thanks for that ...but apparently its not doing anything when i push that button other than showing me the 3 primary colors separately..Its getting worse and now i have to decide to put up with it till it goes or try to get rid of it to someone who would pay around 120 dollars and a 1 year warranty to replace the modules. I already paid 3 years ago at a 325 clip and 6 month warranty..Know of any company that would pick up this monster or do i have to buy one in order for them to take it? |
