Since DSO1 at Winter Hill, my Philips DTR220 (software version 1.65.54) has
had a problem with its channel list. When I rescan, the box refuses to retain any of the channels on pre-DSO MuxC (formally on UHF60, but now on Mux1's old UHF56 frequency until DSO2). It also lists the now-defunkt Mux1 channels in the 800s, and marks them with a yellow N (presumably standing for 'Not Available'). I did a factory reset, which cleared the channel list, and then rescanned again. This time the channels stored themselves correctly ....for about a minute.... then I got a message saying "The channel list has been updated", and the list reverted to its former state, with Sky3 etc disappearing, and the defunkt Mux1 channels reappearing in the 800s. I'm wondering therefore, if, when MuxC moved to Mux1's old transmitter at Winter Hill, did they forget to update something, and is there still a component of the pre-DSO signals which are continuing to flag the old, now-defunkt Mux1 channels, along with the now-defunkt UHF60 version of MuxC, thus confusing my Philips box? |

Could it be that the box is finding Moel-y-Parc in the first part of its scan, then finding WH and getting confused? -- Woody harrogate three at ntlworld dot com |

Some Philips boxes (including mine) do not survive the latest update [on
Winter Hill]. Philips grudgingly acknowledged this and that the boxes can't be updated - so it can go for landfill. "jamie powell" wrote in message ... There'd be no problem if MuxC hadn't moved location. (Although the phantom BBC channels would still appear in the 800s, this wouldn't affect normal usage). |

My new Panasonic DMR-EX79EB recorder also seems to be having some problem with the channel list since the DSO stage 1 on 4th Nov. I receive my signal from the Lancaster transmitter. I keep getting the message about new DVB channels having been found. I've retuned the box about 6 times since 4th Nov, but still the messages appear. The list of TV channels appears to be OK. I've no idea what the problem is. -- John Aldred |

Could the old channels be retained in a temporary memory somewhere ? It might be worth doing a factory reset and then pulling the plug out to allow power to drain away before restarting and rescanning. Just a thought. Roger R |

Try a factory reset followed by a first-time installation (not just a retune.) I had a word with Panasonic product support. They also suggested doing this. I reset the system, this afternoon, to Shipping Condition as they term it, and then switched off at the mains for a minute. I then did the first time setup which rescanned and reset the channels. Almost immediately afterwards the on-screen prompt appeared again inviting me to retune !! I spoke to Panasonic a second time. They have no solution apart from suggesting that I take it to my nearest service agent (some 25 miles away). I think not. I have turned off the on-screen notifications instead. -- John Aldred |
