Have you a reference for that?

Thank you. The first one (the .pdf) doesn't seem to support that. I've
haven't read every word, but it doesn't contain the words 'supplier' or
'postcode'. The second one does indeed say that, so do we have a discrepancy
between the legal requirement and the British standard?

Some folk love some of the old brands though.

This morning, I came across a recent silver C-class Merc that had the
original bonnet mounted badge presumably replaced by the owner with an
even more original, probably antique, chrome AA badge!

Think I'll stick Heinz 57 varieties on the front of my Skoda...

Supplier and postcode on the plate.
What a load of big brother crap.

Government depts. are every day dreaming up more and more regulations which
they sneak into law by the use of enabling clauses of the type 'the
Secretary of State shall introduce such regulations as are from time to time
necessary' hidden away in some Bill or other, so the regulations are never
actually come before in Parliament.

The paper says the Secretary of State owns the numbers. How can it own a
number, numbers are a language expression of quantity not an ownable thing /
intellectual property. Next the S of S will be claiming it owns all words
and only grants persons the right to use them and may withdraw that right !

The regulations 561 of 2001 may well have been superceded. Regulation
2687 of 2002 mentions the name and postcode of the supplier on the
plate in relation to spacing.

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2002/uksi_20022687_en.pdf

Statutory Instrument 2002 No. 2687

(g) the space between the bottom of the mark and the bottom of the
registration plate must be not less than 13 millimetres; but, within
that space, the space between the bottom of the mark and the top of
the name and postcode of the person by whom the plate was supplied
must be not less than 5 millimetres.

I can't find the actual regulation which makes the postcode mandatory
or British Standard BSAU145d(a) to which plates must conform online.

I would have thought if it was mandatory it would have said so in that
document.

The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001
requires plates to conform to BS AU 145d

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2001/20010561.htm#sch2p1

I can't see a freely available version of the British Standard online,
but here is a summary

A piece of computer code is just a string of numbers but it can be

One of the issues surrounding the low take up of sattelite services in
certain areas of the UK, is that the display of a receiving dish on ya
property proudly advertises that fact that the occupants have some sort
of leaning towards murdoch provided 'entertainment' / mindwash.

Around here, I still see plenty of dish manufacturer's logos painted
across some non-Sky sourced sattellite dishes - those installed chiefly
for the reception of non-UK services and of course kit purchased for
freesat.

But I've never seen a Freesat branded dish. Are they out there?

I wouldn't want a brand on my dish for the same reason that I don't
have a large Pilkington banners across my windows.

I won't wear clothes with adverts on it. And when Perrys started to fix a
chrome Perrys badge to every car they sold, well!

It seems to be very difficult to buy T shirts without adverts on them.
I think it's called fashion.

Just think if you had one of those on the front of your house. The day might
come when someone dies and people come to the house to pay their respects. .
