ITV regions

My Sky Freesat box says we get ITV Yorks E, whereas the proper Freesat box
says we get ITV Yorks W. And why do I have to key in the password on the
latter for ITV London?

A Humax box? Password needed for any "tuning" changes. Default is 0000.

Thought they worked on postcodes, have they got different postcodes?
Or maybe Sky and Freesat work on different data basis.
What is difference will it be really local programmes that are different
only, such as local news being Leeds and other Hull.

"Password" wonder if you meant PostCode. Eg Sky Card is working on
postcode you gave to obtain it, and Freesat is working on postcode you
input.

Dunno, my Freesat Humax PVR requires no password for ITV London, I just
punch in 977.

By the way, I can't find the right Lyngsat page, but I'm sure ITV 1
Yorks-East is one of the 6 ITV regions on Astra 2B and therefore FTV
encrypted. That's why Freesat boxes have to use Yorks West.

We have a similar problem here, Meridian North is FTV encrypted, so
Freesat boxes map us to Central South (aka Oxford) instead.

Doesn't really matter, the ITV regional news programme is the same
(Meridain News) on both regions. (But not the ads, or non news regional
progs).

I'd have thought it was the other way around, what is the password? By that
I mean, why and when does one need a password.
