I had thought the rescans of 30th Sept. was the one to end all scans, how
wrong I have been.
Since then my set as asked to rescan twice.
What a poor system it is.
On satellite do not get this problem.

You usually are wrong, it was stated many times that periodic retunes would
be nescessarry for Freeview.

My PVR doesn't tell me when a re-scan is needed, is there something I should
know?

If you keep subscribed to this newsgroup, you are likely to learn about any
scans required.

My PVR asks me if I want to rescan every time anything new pops out of
the either. It can be a bit annoying.

I've not re-scanned since 30th September on any of my 4 receivers using
Sutton Coldfield, nor on an office one on Hannington.
What transmitter are you using, and are you in a region undergoing
transition?

So you could be receiving your TV from the Belmont, or Bilsdale West Moor,
or Emley Moor transmitters or one of their associated relays.

Or even possibly a relay of Winter Hill?

Surely if the system had been thought out in the first place, a transmitter
signal should rescan all boxes when content is change, silently, say when
first switched on each day, or in the background if on standby. Seems
completely daft to keep changing the stations and getting users to try to
navigate menus all the time.
My netgem rescans if you hit menu and a colour button twice. I have a
problem of corse as I keep forgetting the colour button order.
