Default Astratec stb problem

Everything seemed fine after the digital retune with our TVs and STBs but
I've just realised that our Astratec box can't display STVSCO. (We live in
Ayr, SW Scotland).

It appears in the program list (correctly as channel 3), the program guide
works but when I switch to channel 3, all I get is a black screen.

I've reset the box and rescanned several times (both to add new channels and
also to replace all channels) but it steadfastly refused to display channel
3. I can view channel 3 on all our other STBs & TVs. There are no software
updates available for this STB.

Any suggestions?

Which model is it? Have you tried a full reset then power cycle and
then retune?

There are software updates to these AFAIK , if you do the 'check for
updates' is just checks if one is being broadcast at the moment, and
they only last a few days normally. They are often rebroadcast, is
there a chance you might have missed it, you have to accept it at the
time, otherwise it won't update.

What is you current software (the long number at the bottom of the
screen starting with TUTV probably).

Have you tried contacting Humax? There is evidence on the web that this box
and the Humax MG-TU1 may be the same.

You didn't say what the model was, but I do see some references to 0453
on Digitalspy, so it maybe that that might work better, but its hard to
be sure that it is applicable to your model exactly, or that it isn't a
new bug.

Its unusual to get the channel id and no picture atall, I presume you
are getting Ch4 and Ch5 ok?

My neighbours Sagem IDT 62 with very old firmware gives a badly mangled
picture and no sound. Apparently with newer firmware it would have worked
fine.

Doh! I had done a full reset, turned it on and off with the remote but had
forgotten that that's not the same as fully powering down.

A quick unplug from the wall and re-plug has it all sorted. Sorry for
wasting everyone's time!

Yes and no Paul. The on-screen display is very similar, but the
machine is not.

Specifically following Sept 30th the MG-TU1 will no longer work
(or at least ours won't) but both of our Astratecs (3D) work
perfectly.

Actually I would say the opposite is true, the GUI is different but the
hardware is the same (except maybe modulator).

Not atall, or just messed up a bit?

Got well messed up - some 800's. But the main problem was that it
got 'stuck' in scanning - admittedly never having been fast, but
this time it was taking the better part of an hour to scan, and
we only have Emley signle site. (And yes, I did try attenuation,
cable out, etc, but it made no difference.)
