Default Sony Freesat IDTVs

Sony's IDTVs with Freesat tuners built in seem to have been launched:-

http://www.sony.co.uk/hub/bravia/block/7/subblock/2

No mention of DVB-T2 sets yet though ?

I wish someone would do one with a small screen. It would be perfect for the
motorhome/caravan/boat market.

No mention of DiSEqC support for the tuner mentioned (as far as I can see).

On the technical spec page under 'Tuner' it has:
"DVB-S2 Satellite TV Tuner (with supported operators)"
Does that mean it only works when enabled by an EPG data channel ?
No EPG data no picture ?

FTA channels on sats with no EPG - no reception possible ?

So is this what it says it is, a Freesat TV...and nothing else.

If it is they're shot themselves in the foot.

I don't think EU law would allow that ?

I think this badly worded sentence just means that "not everyone uses DVB-S2
but this set is capabale of reception from those who do!"

Hi, I have purchased an excellent Sony kdl 40z5800. This has biult in
freesat and also room to store up to 4 additional sats. I have a dish
pointed at 28e for freesat inc HD (Fantastic). Also a dish pointed at 13e. I
have successfully tuned the tv to freesat, and also to sat 2 (13e) using 2
separate feeds. I can view all channels on 13e but I would like to use the
DiSEC control to switch between the two. Does anyone know if I can do this,
perhaps using a separate switch. If so what settings would I need to program
into the Sony tvs software. Any feedback would be most welcome, Regards

Assuming your TV has a satellite configuration menu with the option for
DiSEqC switching, setting this up should be a doddle. You'll need a
two-way DiSEqC switch - the König that I use cost only five quid through
Amazon and works very well. Then it just a matter of connecting up the
cables, and assigning Hotbird to port A (say) and Astra to port B in the
TV configuration menu. Switching between satellites should be automatic
and completely transparent.
