****-poor last night in Edinburgh. I thought it was my Toppy playing
up but all the other channels were fine.

C5 really seem to be intent on driving viewers away. If it's not an
animated trailer poping up in the middle of the programme it's the
endless stream of "Flashforward" trailers and now this.

If my wife wasn't addicted to CSI I'd give up on it completely.

I've been having the same problems with C5 as well, in the Granada
region. I'm also pig sick of these ads for future or coming next that
invade my viewing space, Virgin started doing it as well. Flashforward
is pretty good, watched nearly half of the first series back in the
early 90s so will probably catch up and hope it doesn't descend into
the mess that Lost did.

Flashforward was about in the early 90's?

Z

Yes, most of the popular US series take about 15 years to get over
here. I retired 1991 and visited friends in the US after then, so
1992/3 was the time it started, even remember the 'countdown ads for
it, just like those on C5 today. A year or two later I watched
'Fatherhood' with Patrick Swayze at the cinema in Manchester and
mentioned the program it to a friend when I saw a scene where the kids
were watching the TV and the ad for it came on. 'Fatherhood' was
released 1993/4. Was a big fan of PS around that time.

Kay

The novel FF was based on was written in 1999, so in 1992/3 you must
have had a flash forward yourself. :¬)

It looks like you are having a senior moment, the Flash Forward
currently being shown on five and fiver is a brand new 2009
production, there a TV series in the US in 1996 called Flash Forward
which was a comedy so nothing like the current series and the scene
you mentioned couldn't have appeared in Father Hood which was
released 3 years earlier.

I've just noticed another series called Flash Forward made in 1989, also a
comedy, that must be the one you saw

Are you sure you aren't talking about
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_Forward_(TV_series)

"Flash Forward is an American Disney Channel Original Series produced in
Canada for pre-teens and teenagers which aired on both the Disney Channel
and ABC during the mid-1990s. The show took a look at the lives of two best
friends and neighbors since birth, Tucker and Rebecca, and their respective
adventures as they travel through the world of eighth grade."

Rather different from the current programme, which is based on a 1999 novel.

No they don't anymore. Flashforward is currently airing on abc in the USA on
a Thursday and the same epsiode is shown on channel 5 here the following
Monday.

Yup :-) although I never trust 'wikipedia', found far too many errors
on there.

Kay

Me too.

I corrected one once.

Typical woolly lefty thought process. Proved wrong, and admits it, but has
to bring in the irrelevance that Wiki is unreliable, as if it sort of
justifies being wrong. Once you've admitted that you were wrong Wiki's
accuracy is irrelevant. If you seriously thought you were right and Wiki was
wrong you would have said so.

One of the big problems faced by western society is that too many decision
makers and too many voters have never been taught to think clearly.

A typical Leftist analysis.... ;-)

Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply.

Well given how bad the picture quality had become I decided to lodge a
complaint with C5, not expecting anything to happen I was surprised to
receive this today:

- quote -
'Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding the quality of Five’s
picture following the Freeview Re-tune.

In some parts of the country, Five has been broadcasting at reduced
resolution on Freeview since 30th September due to technical reasons
related to the national re-tune. However, we are now transmitting at
full resolution across the UK and apologise for any inconvenience this
has caused you.

If there is anything further we can help you with, please do not
hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your interest in Five.'
- end quote -

I did watch a few minutes of C5 last night and during that time I
didn't notice any problems with picture blocking. Has anyone else
noticed any change?
