Default At what time does tomorrow's digital re-tune take place?

As in the subject, at what time does tomorrow's digital re-tune /
programme re-shuffle take place? On my STB, I've looked at the programme
guide for several channels, and there is no sign of any break in service
(even for a couple of minutes).

Remember analogue and D-Sat is unaffected, so there'll be no break in

Presumably viewers receiving their BBC, ITV, C4, and five TV signal via
satellite have been spared the incessant "Remember to retune" banners
on their programs?

Thanks. Presumably, the change-over will essentially only entail
switching the data feed to each of the six [1] transmitters from one
source to another? I guess that the first indication that this has
happened will be that you find you're watching the 'wrong' programme.

No, the SI tables and PIDs will need to be renewed and re-jigged too, so there
might be odd effects during the transition. The number of services on each mux
will change too. It might even crash some boxes.
Odd they are doing this during the day, previously such things have been done
overnight.

Yes, and those of us who have disabled the MHEG engines in their DTT receivers.

How is this bit of "magic" being achieved --

QUOTE

The on-screen messages will ... *continue* for four days afterwards to
remind people to retune if they haven't already done so on the 30
September.

UNQUOTE

How does the box know if you have retuned or not?

And some people might be wondering if the box is so clever as to know
whether or not you have retuned, why does the box not just retune
its-self?

That quoted stuff is ambiguous. It can mean that the message will be
repeated if the retune hasn't been done:
"You should retune"
but it can also mean that the message will be repeated regardless of
whether the retune has been done:
"If you haven't retuned you should do so".

And some people might be wondering if the box is so clever as to know
whether or not you have retuned, why does the box not just retune
its-self?

How might this most-welcome improvement be achieved?
Do tell! :-)

That is what I thought it meant the first time I read it, but then read
it again, and though it was indicating the other meaning.

If the message is indeed repeated regardless, I think that it will annoy
many people, who having done the retune, continue to be badgered by the
warning message.
