Default Pace reveals Freeview HD receiver

"Dr Zoidberg"

Why on earth would you do that?
I had a 32" CRT set that I used with my Freeview PVR.
I sold this to a friend who is using it with a Freeview PVR and I now have
a flat panel used with the same PVR.

I wanted a larger TV etc. in the living room got one the wife thinks the
flat screen on wall is great and an extra 2 foot now in the room.
She then insisted a fat panel TV and more room in the dinning room.
Then guess what the 20 year old, might be more, 14" Philips TV in kitchen
had to go.

It is hard to find people still using CRT TVs today at least as main TV set.
It is surprising how the "green" people go on about turning TV off at night
etc. and all these perfect working crt TVs going in the bin and landfill.
( I did in fact give them to some poor people in need of TV sets, but I had
a hard job in finding these people to take them, most would have given up
before me and put them into councils skips)

So my HD ready TV will not work with Terrestrial HD?

My very old TV from 1976 works fine with my set top box
and terrestrial HD.

Interesting, this subject is about terrestrial Freeview HD which is yet to
start!
Should you somehow really have a HD box does your TV have the required HDMi
socket?

I have already put 3 perfectly good working CRT Tv sets in the scrap
bin, looks like 3 flat screen TV sets going to follow them.

I don't understand? In my bedroom I have a 9 year old (cheap Bush)
widescreen CRT Tv displaying excellent pictures via a PVR.
As for flat screen I would imagine that the overwhelming majority
are 'HD ready' and would therefore have a multitude of different
inputs, such as HDMI and component, which I don't see going out of
fashion anytime soon.

These bought with all in one so no external box needed, if this new
HD spec. needed by me then to avoid this new Pace box if available a
new TV with the new HD spec will need to be bought and present set
thrown out.

Obviously more money than sense.

I never said I knew it all, but clearly more than you.

No need for HDMI. There is a MDMI output, but my box also
convert the signal to old analogue signal (CVBS) for my old TV.
Sagem ITD84 HD.

Well that is marvellous seeing HD before it available and on a TV made years
before for SD.

Terrestrial HD television has been available for years, just not yet
in your area.

Nor will anybody else's current TV without a set top box.

Unless it has MPEG-4 capability and they are on the southern coast of
England or are in the Channel Islands or France its-self or adjacent
territories on the mainland, and are receiving TNT HD broadcasts,
which have been transmitted since November 2008.

And they think we will buy it!

They can sod right off!

Hello Pace get this through your think little heads.

GET THE EXISTING PACE FREEVIEW RECEIVERS WORKING AT DSO AND WE MIGHJT
CONSIDER BUYING ANOTHER.

I would settle for the Twin working as the DTVA is rarely used now anyway.

Yes they have stung me for £450 in the past and both boxes will need to go
to landfill post DSO.

I will watch what Humax do I think.

I have a few DTVAs. I use one in the kitchen.

What I'm not clear about is whether the hardware in the DTVA can handle
the post-DSO transmissions. If it can't then then we can't expect Pace
to offer replacements for such old boxes.
