Default OT? - External speakers

I have a small flat screen digital in the bedroom (Teac HD), has standard
speaker outputs (2) can I in some way hook up a powered PC speaker 2.1 sys
(Sub + L&R speakers) to this? (from what I see the PC sys have a single dual
channel connector to the sub)
T/Y

Probably. Either take an audio output from the SCART on the back of
the telly if it has audio out, or from the headphone socket. Headphone
socket is probably the easiest as you woudl probably just need a 3.5mm
- 3.5mm stereo cable eg
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=11422

Sound from the headphone socket can also be presumed to be after the audio
delay, and therefore in sync with the picture, whereas this cannot be guaranteed
for any of the other outputs.

You'd need to show us what connectors each item has available

I took a feed from the stereo RCA sockets on my Panasonic TV to powered
speakers. Works well except that the TVs remote does not control the
volume on the RCA sockets - so need to keep jumping up and down to
adjust the volume.

The headphone socket was adjustable with the remote (bit of a fiddle
though cos have to go through menus) but gave a very poor noisy input to
the speakers.

You can and we have done as our CRT TV in the bedroom has
sideways facing speakers. My son replaced his speakers with new
so we had the old 2.1 and plugged them into the TV headphone
outlet. It works brilliantly and the remote affects the audio
level.

Only one thing: consider making (or getting a friend to make) a
splitter with a small load resistor (say 100 ohms) in it on each
speaker outlet so that when you switch the TV off remotely the
discharging capacitors don't cause a clicking from the speakers -
the speaker amp input will be high impedence and thus not load
the headphone outlet.
