The exception I can think of is "24". That had an extended section with product placement (a big Ford promotion) in one episode (ie 60 real minutes of product-placement content instead of 45 mins +15mins of ads). IIRC it was cut back to 45mins when shown here. Of course it's been happening for years, and still does. "This Morning" is a good example, and chat shows another. Wossy takes great delight in introducing an actor with a new film/tv series, a singer with a new album/tour, an author with, you get the idea. Every guest on a chat show has something to sell, and let's not forget The News, with it's promos for movies and other celeb earners. TV is really beginning to suck big time. Not to mention the spread of American terminology. ;-) Z Touche' :¬) -- Ian |

I've stopped watching television news - it's so bad for my blood pressure. The 6pm (UK) news is pretty much irrelevant up here (and probably to most people north of High Barnet) and the 6.30pm (Reporting Glasgow) news is full of the Scottish Government's latest consultation initiative into reducing the incidence of washing-line theft. Owain I'm 2 miles north of High Barnet and i certainly find it irrelevant, it's not news anymore, it's mostly comment and opinion Steve Terry |

The virus uploaded from the Mac does not need to be a Mac OS virus. It could just be a file stored on the Mac. 2. How come the alien mothership had a connector that the Mac could interface with? The aliens could hardly have invented a connection method (physical connection and data protocols) that just happened to be identical to one invented here on Earth. -- Peter Duncanson (in uk.tech.digital-tv) |

Was there not a similar issue of aliens using the same networking protocols in an episode of ST:TNG, perhaps involving The Borg? |
