Chanel 5 on 105 is scrambled, so without a card you get an
on-screen message, but, for reasons that I cannot fathom an
unencrypted version is transmitted outside the EPG which
again can be tuned as an additional channel (10.773 H 22 5/6 "FIVE")

Presumably the "clear" version is the Freesat version of Five, perhaps
it doesn't transmit certain programmes when there are rights issues?

That is indeed the version that appears on Freesat. I haven't noticed
any programmes being absent.

Not any longer - or rather not in the south of England C5 "advertising
region" at least!

From last week C5 on 105 has been switched to a FTA version and,
obviously worked WITHOUT the smartcard!

Interesting, I wonder if they're doing it one region at a time, here in the
north a card is still required.

They are messing about with Freeview for the sake of Channel five. There
could be a connection.

So I wonder why they don't make it the 105 default "sans carte"?

Interesting. I assume the 'South of England' aka Region 2 stream that is being
mapped to Sky 105 is the 10773 FTA version, as used for Freesat ? The
remaining streams (Regions 1,3,4) that are encrypted are still at 12422, and
therefore must remain encrypted as they're on wide beam.
