Oh no Bill - another Wright off!

You won't want to hear about the kettle then?

Bill

Well I understand why you might have disasters with plumbing or making a
patio, but how come there are so many electrical mishaps in your house?

Ever since I put drawing pins on all the hammers of the Sunday school piano,
God's had it in for me.

My goodness I used to do that too [to the piano at home]. And to think it
might have led ME to become an aerial installer as well.....

[Winifred Attwell on Radio Luxemburg was to blame in those days...]

I had a switch connected to the loud pedal. It contrilled a spark
transmitter in the loft. It was so that I could interfere with next door's
TV whilst apparently innocently practicing the piano.

Did you do that as well? I once put drawing pins in the back of all the
C hammers in our school piano so that while a B would sound on its own
(in a penultimate chord of G, for example) it would also sound along
with the C in the final chord and ruin the ending.

In school we had 'music lessons' with a teacher who unfortunately had
not much control of the class and so he couldn't do much worse than
threaten to tape record the ensuing zoo riot and play back it to the
head teacher later. Then, we'd be held in detention for ever and a week
or whatever.

So he got his battery operated cassette recorder out, inserted a
cassette and hit play/record. Couldn't understand with fresh batteries
in a machine he'd been using, why it suddenly had packed up. Dead, like.

Just as he started panicing he found my screwed up scrap of paper neatly
jammed in the mains socket of the recorder, placed craftily to move the
inbuilt switch that disconnected the batteries on mains lead insertion.

I fessed up for the sabotage and got detention for that. However, the
distraction of all this meant that the riot recording never took place,
and (if memory serves me correct) the rest of the class escaped further
punishment.
