Default Did Best Buy Do Itself a PR Favor With Pricing Error?

The hottest story on the web today was none of the above. Burning up
the blogosphere and Twitter was the remarkable "pricing error" that
occurred on the website for electronics retailer Best Buy, which --
for a little while, anyway -- had a 52-inch Samsung high-definition TV
listed for $9.99.

Certainly makes you wonder...thats a pretty big goof up....and look at
the line of people coming to the store!

I doubt BB did this to attract customers. The type of customers this
tactic would bring in are not likely to buy anything.

Think about it... What kind of idiot looks at an AD like that (a
patently obvious error) and thinks they could actually walk out of the
store with a 52-inch Samsung for ten dollars?

An idiot brought up in life with an entitlement mentality, that's who.

I imagine they expected to make a big fuss, threaten to sue, and get
offered something to keep them quiet.

People get charged with fraud when they cash checks that are way too
big. But there's no way they could have gotten that price - but they
*might* have been otherwise compensated. Businesses allow for a lot
of abuse from customers rather than fight them.

All ads I see have a "not responsible for typographical errors" type of
disclaimer.
