Default garbled customer stuff.

I had a weird conversation the other day with a lady in a sheltered block ,
lets say somewhere in Sussex. She had apparently been told that the block
was being wired up with digital. Digital what I asked, probably falling for
the bait..

Everything, sky stuff this freeview thing and dab. What about FM I asked,
don't know we never get FM here its always crackly.
Who is doing this then?

Oh its some nice lads from the local volunteering project, with help from
some retired people.

I decided to bite my tongue at this point.. I'm pretty safe out here in
Surrey though. Sounda a bit strange to me to get a bunch of volunteers in, I
bet some local firm will have to come and sort out the mess at some point.
The silly thing is, her Roberts radio gets DAB in her flat, but fm is
rubbish!

It is just possible that one of the retired people has some expertise in
the matter. On the other hand it might be the ignorant leading the
ignorant.

You could have said 'the blind leading the blind'. I'm sure that's a
situation Brian is familiar with. Of course, a nod's a good as a wink to a
blind bat. And there's more ways to kill a cat than than choking it with
lard.

An interesting paraphrasing of the more usual saying methinks ;-)

No, he is north, much more North. I just thought it a bit odd, that was all.

I used to hear this sort of conversation at bus stops between two people who
usually no idea of what they were on about and it took a lot of will power
to not butt in and say, but that is rubbish..
In the above case, the lady used to live round here and moved down there,
hence she still rings us up.
