I can post dozens of URLs that define a DVD as a second generation optical disc, and a BD as a third generation optical disc. The "earth is flat/round" reference was only to highlight the absurdity of your contention. Speaking of obtuse... |

Earth. I can post dozens of URLs that define a DVD as a second generation optical disc, and a BD as a third generation optical disc. The "earth is flat/round" reference was only to highlight the absurdity of your contention. Speaking of obtuse... One can argue that the earth isn't round (your analogy, not mine), even though the huge majority of people and information available says that it is, and neither side would really be wrong. The same goes for many things. This was just a lesson for you., as one can be anal enough about anything to not see the forest through the trees. I do find many of your postings offers a good mix of interesting information about the industry and you seem to be quite knowledgeable about many them and for that, I thank you (please keep doing so). What I would like to offer you some advice; always keep an open mind, as there are plenty of shades of grey in many cases that blur the defining lines of right and wrong. All I can say in closing is that I agree we disagree. It makes no sense to keep this thread alive until it degenerates into the abyss of Godwin's Law. |

There were those that believe that blu-ray are not DVD, while others believe that DVD is a generic term that can be applied to many formats. "Glen Watson" skrev i meddelelsen ... Does anyone know if Blu-Ray will be the last generation of optical discs? It seems lots of companies are interested in flash memory these days. Disney is including free memory sticks with some of its movie titles. Could this be the replacement for Blue-Ray? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I think that You are right! I have put a Blu-ray film on a micro SD stick. Imagine "To blow your nose, and out comes a micro SD card. You stick it in a SD-adapter and put the adapter in a USB stick. You put the stick in a PS3 for an instance, and there,- You play the Blu-ray film that You blew right out of Your nose! With menus and all";-) SD-HC cards are rated according to bitrate. CLASS 6 means 6 megaBytes per sec. That is 6x8 megabits = 48 Megabits/sec. This is sufficient to a Blu-Ray film. I have tried so I know. My vision is little SD-HC(not micro) cards like stamps, with beautifull little stamp-pictures of the film. The film collection could have its place in a "Stamp collection album" when the friend comes, You show him the album, he chooses the "stamp-film", You place it in a USB-stick and into the compatible player(I know the PS3 can do it) and it plays. All the films in one stamp album standing on the bookshelf with its golden backside Disney-like.-Is'nt that a beautifull vision?.-) The "AVCHD" homemade Blu-ray standard is menu capable from a SD-HC card. You can see the making here of a homemade HD-video sample That plays the menus even from a hard drive folder(danish but with translations): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avLPdgEvybU Greets Jens |
