I understand this is supposed to be the next 'big thing' on mobiles, so
watch out after dark if you have a white wall on your house. I'd hate to think what the battery life might be like though... Phones were getting smaller (in some cases too small) but it looks if the trend in going back to something the size of a house brick ![]() A few years ago no-one would consider buying anything less than 15 inch TV or computer monitor - until the mobile phone operators came along with hyped up applications on their equipment. -- Alan news2009 {at} admac {dot} myzen {dot} co {dot} uk |

No, they are mobile phones, that are mobile phone size, that contain full video projectors that are extremely power efficient. As demoed on BBC Click almost a year ago: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programme...ne/7576366.stm And here's a prototype from TWO years ago: http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2007/0...uments-sh.html Wow - will be able to project a picture of what we looked like a few seconds ago! Or a video conference in a meeting, or a movie, or photos taken elsewhere, etc. Were you similarly disparaging with your prediction of how useful SMS text messaging would be? "Wow, only 180 characters!" :-( Oh, I think just about everyone did, including the handset makers and the networks. My first GSM phone, an NEC I think made a single quiet beep when it received an SMS, very easy to miss, and sending one needed some deep drilling into the menus. As friends and relatives began to acquire GSM phones themselves, or upgrade from analogue phones, my party-trick when they visited was to send them a text, in nearly every case it was the first time they had received one and were totally unaware of the feature, and were hard pressed to think of a practical use other than to perform the same party-trick. After all many of us had upgraded from text-pagers to a mobile phone. Even today I very rarely send a text, but I concede the ability to receive them is sometimes useful. -- Graham. %Profound_observation% |

I make great use of the Nokia software that allows me to compose texts, etc, on the computer and send them from the phone. When it's someone's birthday I usually send them a text which comprises a full recital of the Happy Birthday song, followed by a personal message and lots of kisses. OK, I know. Bill |
