Echostar have finally redeemed themselves in my eyes.

After both my T-101 Freeview boxes were rendered virtually useless last year
when the NIT split, I gave up waiting for them to do anything useful and
emailed them chasing things up. They asked me to send them back to them at
my expense, but sent them back fully working within three days at their
expense.

Whilst this should never have been necessary they are far more customer
focused than Humax, who are still ignoring the problems I am having with my
integrated TV!

Humax sell a TV?..

My t-101's are still dead.. They told me in like Feb that they are waiting
for a firmware broadcast slot to open so they can update everyone.........
Guess I will need to mail them back if I dont want dud boxes.

Yes, but don't buy one.

They still don't have a date for the update. I dealt with Gary Townson -
obvious email address!

How do they expect that to work, if you can't tune in to any service
with it ?

Yes - I have one in the kitchen. At the time I bought it, it was one of
the few in the size I needed. It's a good set.

I'll second that, mine's even got DAB built in, along with decent speakers.

A lot of the off air stuff needs to be paid for and they are at the mercy of
the third party channel operators of course, whereas if they get the boxes
back they can sort them in minutes I imagine. Its a pity nobody puts a way
to connect these boxes to a computer so you could update the software from
the companys web sites.

Perhaps the copy of the note to Humax below will explain.

They haven't responded to three emails, a letter and a fax over an 8 month
period:

"I bought a Humax LGB - 17 DTTV in October 2006.

When we first starting using the TV, it would often "hang" when switching on
if left in DTTV mode. Analogue has never given a problem. After a few weeks
the problem got better, although occasionally I still had to unplug the set
and enable it to re-boot before DTTV could be used.

In the past few weeks the problem has returned, and now after switching from
standby, I have to unplug it about 50% of the time and wait for it to go
through the "loading" screens before DTTV will work.

The TV is used on the Sutton Coldfield transmitter, signal strength averages
100% and signal quality about 87%. I don't unplug it at night as I
understand software updates are sometimes provided.

I would be grateful for any thoughts or comments you could give on solving
this problem please? It's spoiling what is otherwise an excellent product."

I also bought it because at the time it was one of the few digital LCD
sets - I'm now considering binning it and getting another Panny.

it ?

Quite.

You can tune it in, but it puts all the channels in odd places where no-one
can ever find them again!
As soon as this happened we stopped using them as it was just too
irritating.
