Default Cheap freesat install

Hi,

I notice a well-known highstreet retailer is doing cheap freesat
installs (£78.29 from argros). Does anyone have any knowledge of the
likely quality of workmanship? Is there a catch?

As always you get what you pay for. I normally avoid cheap ass deals
like this because most Sky installers are crap too.

I don't call that cheap, it's the same price they've charged since the start
of Freesat, that is £68.08 + VAT when the VAT rate goes back to 17.5% it
will be back to £80. Don't forget this is for installation only, on top of
the price of the equipment.

I think Freesat from SKY better value equipment and installation

Who cares if the install is crap, re-do it yourself if it is, it's worth it
for the 4 months of up front sky 4 pack.

Just remember to cancel at 4 months

The best value at the moment is the
Sky Pay Once Watch Forever Pack, £73.40 from Argos.

Freesat might be worth considering if 4HD goes on the EPG.

Mark is talking about Freesat not the pay once and watch forever which costs
less from Argos than a Freesat install which is for the dish installation
only.

It's not much cheaper and I wouldn't want the hassle of connecting up
a phone line for the sky box.

wow

"Exclusive to new Sky TV customers who have not taken up our free dish and
box offer in the past. For £75 this pack gives you access to over 200 free
digital TV channels - AND 4 months of the 4 most popular Sky Entertainment
Mixes (normally £20 a month). After 4 months you will continue to receive
Sky TV for £20 a month. Let Sky know before then if you no longer want to
receive Sky TV and you can continue watching the free channels."

So Argos charge less for the whole set up IE equipment included as well as
installation than just installing a Freesat dish?

Can't use Sky+ functionality with 'Freesat from Sky', you need a paid
subscription. So if you want PVR functionality, you'd need a (non-Sky)
Freesat PVR box - so why not just go with Freesat from the start.
