There's a shop I pass every day called the 'Learn2' Dyslexia Centre. I'm confused. Do they want to train people to read plain English or to read DOS filenames? It is probably aiming not to help people with DOS filenames, but is directed towards helping the SMS "text speak" generation. http://www.netlingo.COM/acronyms.php |

I had a sudden relevation on Friday while reading about similar problems
elsewhere on the net (I spent most of Thursday and Friday trawling for answers having had no luck with Digital UK). It is down to interference but not due to the French this time. This won't help everyone but it sorted my problem out and if it helps one other person, it's a start. I have a two Sky boxes plumbed in to my system, both broadcasting on rf channels, and a Sony VCR also with an rf output. This means that I can tune the VCR into either Sky box, or indeed set it to a line input (my DVD player) and watch my chosen program on any TV in the house. The Sky boxes set to Channels 35 and 50 and the VCR to 60. The group of channels I couldn't get was the main BBC one, Mux 1, which is now broadcasting on Channel 34. All that was causing the problem was the Sky box set to Channel 35, which was obviously causing just enough interference to block the incoming digital signal. I've reset that one to Channel 45, safely clear of all the stuff coming in from Rowridge, and as if by magic all my digital gear found Mux 1 again. I am back to pristine signal again across the board. I hadn't really thought about interference, especially as a lot of the digital stuff comes in on 32, 33 and 34 and they don't seem to interfere with each other but there you go. Worth checking anyway. I also read in my trawl about channels being blocked due to feedback on freakily unluckily lengthed aerial cables (cable runs being odd multiples of a particular channels's wavelength) so you can also try swapping cables around within your system I guess. url:http://myreader.co.uk/msg/124339318.aspx |

A Sky box set to ch35 will wipe out ch34 completely because of the unsupressed lower sideband. Bill |

In article , Richard
Howlett writes Thanks for the suggestion Richard. No Sky box here, so that isn't the problem but, just in case, unplugged all other video gear. No change. Update though - Panasonic have confirmed that they have had other, similar reports following the Rowridge retune and think it "appears to be due to various local transmissions" and are working on a fix. No mention of what the local transmissions are though, so no idea if the fix will fix it. We'll see. -- Kennedy Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed; A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he's ****ed. Python Philosophers (replace 'nospam' with 'kennedym' when replying) |

Stumbled across tonight, so suppose all your probs are solved. We had the
changeover weeks ago and my Panasonic is working fine. Suggest you initially carry out a full retune with the aerial lead pulled out, then re-insert lead before retuning for a second time. This may or not work, but it did the trick for another of my IDTV's. (By the way, I'm 65, did all the necessary retunes with 4 TV's and one box, so less of the ageism please!) url:http://myreader.co.uk/msg/124339318.aspx |
