I know this has been discussed before, but the full absurdity of it only

hit
me when I sat down to watch Look North tonight, expecting to find it on

BBC2
bacause of the tennis. But DTT Emley had the London News. So did Freesat.
Only analogue had Look North! There can't be many people watching analogue
now. It's barmy! Why not put the damned tennis on BBC2? At the end of Look
North they apologised to Belmont viewers for having to watch the Leeds
version. Do they apologise on BBC 1 at 6.30 for the lack of Look North on
the digi platforms? Why do they put London local news on everywhere? Why
don't they put a special national news programme on? Or why not put Look
North on everywhere?

Bill

Because the BBC are a bunch of arse-wipes maybe?

Surely a P45. A P60 is issued annually if you're still in employ.

There's very clearly a case for regional opts on BBC2 to be
accomodoated (if only on Freeview) following DSO. As I understand it
the muxes in those regions are coded differently anyway, so why should
BBC2 not be included in that re-architecture?

(Because clearly the BBC's assurance that they'd no longer put
regional material on BBC2 just cannot be trusted, so either a digital
solution has to be found, or the analogue opting capability has to be
removed so as to put it beyond the use of channel controllers who
think the world revolves around them.)

Whatever it is the BBC does these days, it's not broadcasting as we knew

This is a rather ridiculous comment.

Do I assume that the TX disty for BBC-2 is now entirely via satellite?

No.

It does seem rather more complex than it need be - will it be 'fixed'
after DSO?

3 years is several lifetimes in broadcasting.

I think the best solution would be to re-name BBC 2
to BBC 5 then we would all know where we stood ;-)

Well, it's certainly not broadcasting as I knew it.

Who cares about crappy local news? Why are you sitting inside watching TV on
hot sunny days? Why don't you just get a life?

Thanks for your input Jamie, which is as valuable as ever. Your comments

That would need planning and given the short notice nature of the
beast is not really possible, aside from simulcasting News 24 (yes I
know) for the rest of the hour.

Or why not put Look North on everywhere?

What difference would this make to most of the population?

I remember in the late 90's watching 'Children In Need' via ONdigital in
Brighton and was surprised that the had chosen the Look North opt outs in
preference to the London ones for the national digital feed. I didn't
complain as it's always great to see the perma-tan and air of panic that is
Peter Levy on national TV.
