Hi,
I recently purchased a used Sony kp43ht20 model projection HD TV. I like it a lot and just learning how to use it. I still need to subscribe to cable to try out the HD capablities (i think they will give me a HD receiver?). Anyway, I have a DVD player, which I just hooked up and it will not show the picture unless I turn off the Progressive Scan option on the DVD player--otherwise the picture shows up as scrambled. From what I read this TV does support Progressive Scanning technology by DVD players, so why must I turn the feature off on my DVD player before it will show a normal picture on my tv? Is there something Im missing? Also, I heard that the settings need to be adjusted for maxiumum picture quality. Anyone have one of these TV and can share with me the tricks? Thanks gio |

I don't have that model TV, but to use progressive scan, you should connect the DVD player to the TV with a component video cable. Those consist of three (or five if you count the audio) coaxial cables. If you look on the back of your DVD player you will see a set of three jacks for component video, usually colored red, blue and green. Connect them to a component input on the TV. Or you could use DVI if the TV and the player support it. It sounds like you've connected the DVD player to a composite input (or maybe an SVideo input). That will not support progressive scan on most TV sets. Make sure your hdtv set is set to 1080 using the sets menu. |

But for progressive scan video from a DVD, the TV should be at 480p, not 1080i. -- Dave Oldridge+ ICQ 1800667 A false witness is worse than no witness at all. |
