For all I know, the new series might be quite good. However the canned

It shouldn't have been called Regional Perrin. Instead it should have been
a new comedy based on Reggie Perrin, it might have worked then.

it's not terrible, Clunes is good as a character but yeah, it should
have been a kind of follow on and the canned laughter is a mess. The
boss is really grating too.

drugs began to take hold. I remember "Tom E" saying

It started off a bit hesitantly but nicely captures the spirit of the
original.

by injudicious use of the audience fader. The real giveaway if only dubbed
reaction is used is when the artists don't react to it by the timing of
their delivery.

But I'd say every sit com these days will have 'canned' laughter added to
the original at at the sound dub. If only to cover retakes where the
reaction isn't as good as the first take.

No, 'terrific' is derived from the word 'terrify' (usually in the
funfair ride meaning of the word ;-)
