In message , Tom E
writes what a load of rubbish the remake is and nobody can compete with Leonard Rossiter, not even Clunes. For all I know, the new series might be quite good. However the canned laughter did it for me. Three minutes, then I gave up on it. -- Ian |

The boss is really grating too. -- Paul (We won't die of devotion) ------------------------------------------------------- Stop and Look http://www.geocities.com/dreamst8me/ |

The bloke on Points of View swore that the laughter track was geniune. It shouldn't have been called Regional Perrin. That's the one where they act it out in a different part of the country each time, I suppose. Bill |

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "Tom E" saying something like: what a load of rubbish the remake is and nobody can compete with Leonard Rossiter, not even Clunes. Pull your head out of your arse and actually give it a chance. It started off a bit hesitantly but nicely captures the spirit of the original. |

The real giveaway if only dubbed reaction is used is when the artists don't react to it by the timing of their delivery. But I'd say every sit com these days will have 'canned' laughter added to the original at at the sound dub. If only to cover retakes where the reaction isn't as good as the first take. -- *If horrific means to make horrible, does terrific mean to make terrible? No, 'terrific' is derived from the word 'terrify' (usually in the funfair ride meaning of the word ;-) Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. HTH & HAND ;-) -- Regards, John.
