Per CLicker:
And that program would be? SageTV. Pretty good software. Pitiful web site. I've read posts by three technically-inclined users who browsed Sage's site and came away *still* not knowing what SageTV was or how it worked. -- PeteCresswell |

VideoReDo is extremely easy to use and worth every penny (5000 of them) G² Yes, it is. I'm wondering if/when they'll release an mpeg4 version of it. |

Since I don't have any mpeg4 program material available to me it's not an issue. Do you mean to handle programming from satellite or do you want to convert mpeg2 to mpeg4 ? G² |

Do you mean to handle programming from satellite or do you want to convert mpeg2 to mpeg4 ? G² Some of us who have been capturing TV since before HDD became less expensive than DVD+/-RW, used to convert MPEG2 (SD & HD) to divx, xvid, or even h or x 264 for archival purposes. I no longer keep any TV captures on DVD media, but I still have quite a few old converted files on hand (every episode of "All in the Family," for example). I could see why others might want an MPEG4 option in a player, if it supported the codecs they've used to recompress their captures. Were I to seek a stand alone player, it would have to support loading alternate codecs, in addition to DVD & Blu-Ray support of .MPG, .AVI, .and MKV file structures, and playback from eSATA drives to be of any interest. |
