Pay the Murdoch 'blood money' then, assuming that their HD is any
better, doesn't look promising how they have had to 'fake' their promo
currently showing in Tesco, according to that SD is worse than a low
bit-rate VCD! I bet you would even look gift horse in the mouth?...

From info I've had, not all SKY HD sport(live football) is originated
in HD and may even at times be analogue SD upconverted. Surely such a
reputable broadcaster wouldn't deceive it's subscribers, You'll be
telling me next that not all/any politicians are honorable members.

It was indeed. A good description might be in the wide shots of the crowd.
In SD you just saw faces. In HD you would have recognised a friend.

Was that the screen wipe which went from SD to HD? If so then I would
certainly agree with you, I commented to my son last week whilst browsing
TVs in a store, that if the standard definition on my flat screen Philips
was anywhere near as bad as that portrayed on their promo monitor, then I
think I'd be tempted to bin it!

I have only watched footy on ITV HD and it was excellent...

I saw some football a couple of weeks ago on ITV HD. I think it looked
slightly better than live sport I've seen on BBC HD, which is generally
the best quality material you'll see on BBC HD.

However, until I can do an A/B comparison with the same material on both
channels (next year's World Cup Final ?) it's hard to be certain.

The thing is I have compared the BBC HD with BBC1 and 2 transmissions and
find little or no difference between BBC HD and the same on normal BBC.

This film last night on ITV1 in HD was excellent.

BBC HD not had a movie on, if they have had its not been when I was
viewing.
So it is one of 2 things ITV1 in HD is transmitted better than the BBC HD,
or two movies are better than norrmal TV programmes done by the BBC.

There's something badly amiss with your system! BBCHD is dramatically better
than BBCSD. Try doing a direct comparison between SD and HD on a variety of
different progerammme material. Coming shortly will be Wimbledon Tennis and
last year this was outstandingly good in HD.

And check your system!!!

Very Very badly amiss if you can't see any differences betwixt SD and HD
!..

Presume you've looked at a Snellen chart sometime in the past few
years?..

Well my comparison is of programmes I watch not those that do not appeal to
me.
I will be watching out for a movie on BBC to see if as good as the ITV one.
Not managed as yet to note a movie being on BBC HD.
Wimbledon that will be live and live is nearly always better on TV anyway.

Now Snellen chart I need help with that when is that transmitted, not yet
seen a Test Card Transmitted by the BBC.

Anyway doubt my TV set the problem with my dissapointment being BBC and not
ITV.

I can see some people considering that as a distinct *disadvantage*,
if they are meant to be some place else!

Oh what as that to do with HD TV?
That is the chart used by opticians many years ago, so is that the
equivalent to SD TV?

The mention of the Snellen chart was a hint that you need to have your
eyes tested if you can't see any difference between SD and HD.
