Default Panasonic CRT TV Funny

A few days ago an old Panasonic CRT TV model TX-32DT4 (with integral DVB
turner) decided to display "no DVB signal" when it was turned on.
Analogue picture was OK.

Did a bit of research, no fault listed.
Decided to try and re-scan the DVB channels and lo! they all reappeared.

After a few minutes the set display "New DVB services, rescan" (or
similar wording). Did a rescan, all OK again.
Today, turned on the TV, DVB signals (Freeview etc.) all present and
correct.
After a few minutes an action replay of "New DVB services" etc. Rescan
all OK.

Set then worked fine for the rest of this afternoon and evening.
The set gets it's signal from Sandy Heath, all the other TV sets/DVB
boxes in the house (4!) are fine and don't throw up any messages, have
missing channels etc.

Has something changed with the DVB signal from Sandy Heath? Has an OTA
update taken place on the Panasonic TV? Is this a recognised fault with
the TV?
Thanks

Either the transponders have changed or the TV has forgotten its settings.

Have you started switching it off at the wall overnight?

There are quite frequent [~fortnightly, often minor] changes to the station
line up (e.g. "History" recently became "Yesterday") and some better sets
will prompt you when these occur. Sometimes messages will appear in the
broadcast picture telling you of channel changes etc.

Set then worked fine for the rest of this afternoon and evening.

I should rescan all the others.

Probably correct operation. Don't worry about it unless you repeatedly lose
configuration on power cycle.

This might not be related, but I had a freeview box that couldnt update the
new services correctly, so you would let it update and then after a certain
amount of time it would cycle again and re-attempt it (endless cycle for a
few days).

You could try contacting panny support as well, just to see what they say.

I find that the newer LCD (and plasma) Panasonics keep producing this
message, much to the owners' annoyance, and have been asked numbers of
times what to do. (I don't supply Panasonics).
I have now taken to going into the menus and switching off the
message. I can't remember exactly where to find it in the menus,
though. I have just done one today so that shows how bad the memory is
getting!
I expect that the older ones have the same option to switch the
message off, but I am not sure.

The BBC or transmission authority keeps changing the rules how they
describe the transmitters in the NIT packets, and some receivers use
this information to either tune the channels or to notice changes. Most
mfrs have moved away from this as it is unreliable, nevermind trying
to understand what the standards actually mean in practice. It like the
D-book is just a 'desire', and when they find they can't implement it
they change it a few years later and don't tell everyone involved.

I have experienced problems at Beaconhill but still don't know exactly
the cause, but is related to changes introduced for DSO for the
additional new muxes.

I would certainly contact panny support they may need to provide a
software update.
