Will radio channels on Freeview continue after switch over? And what
about DAB? Is that going to be affected? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm confused. Hugh -- Hugh Newbury www.evershot-weather.org |

Hugh Hi Hugh, I see no reason whatsoever for radio channels on the digital terrestrial system to stop. Indeed, with additional space, more could be added! There are no plans to stop DAB. wrote in message ... There are no plans to stop DAB. What a shame. So will we have to go back to MW/LW when in 2017 FM turned off? (2013 in Europe) -- Regards, David FREESAT HD as it is now it is a joke. |

AIUI main transmitters will get six multiplexes and relays three. Correct -- except for "relays" which already carry the six multiplexes. And some main transmitters may even get a seventh multiplex for local television or even possibly an eighth. OfCon has already awarded the licence for the seventh local multiplex to serve parts of Greater Manchester from Winter Hill to Channel M, and for the seventh local multiplex to serve Caerdydd to Cube Interactive. Are all the radio stations on the three maln multiplexes? No. To see which radio stations are on which multiplex pre-DSO, have a look at the web page http://uk.geocities.com/talk2me2u/mux.html and for which radio stations on which multiplex post-DSO but pre-PSB-3 clearing for HD, have a look at the web page http://uk.geocities.com/talk2me2u/DSO.html If not, we must be looking at a situation that the number of stations available to some users will be fewer than the number available on present Freeview? Yes, just as Freeview Lite from relay viewers do and will receive fewer television stations. And they are going to be even more annoyed when at least two television stations disappear when PSB-3 is cleared for HD stations and having recently bought a digital converter box within the last twelve months see no benefit at buying another expensive one for DVB-t2 MPEG-4 reception. |

It will be interesting to see what happens to it as their licence is up fro renewal in a couple of years, and it I believe will be auctioned to the highest bidder;(.. -- Tony Sayer |
