I purchased a Samsung 32" HD LCD in Dec 08. In Feb 09 the picture
failed. Samsung service showed up a week later and confirmed that the
picture failed and told me that special permission was needed from the
corporate office to replace the screen. Three weeks later the part is
still not even ordered. I am still waiting for a call from Samsung
Corporate office for an explanation. Samsung service is not service.

If you used a credit card, check it's policies, you may have a built-in
warranty. Your vendor should definitely replace the set.

Try filing a complaint with Consumers' Affairs, if you have
one.Alternatively, with a mag like "Consumer Reports"or "PC World." Be
sure to send a copy to the store you bought it from & to Samsung.

Waiting??? I would inquire daily, aggressively.

That's what he should do. I've read varying reports of Samsung service at
the AVS forum, and with those who had trouble, it always seemed to rest
with the *local* service center handling Samsung's work. They place a
call and forget it. I'd keep after them, and follow up with calls to
Samsung headquarters.

This is often due to the fact that Samsung has had policies that results in
many quality servicers dropping Samsung, leaving the less desirable
servicers in many markets providing their support. Also, Samsung has
reportedly pitted servicers against each other in terms of pricing in many
markets, assuring that their clients get the service done by the cheapest
shop. Lots of servicers that were once providing excellent support simply
don't bother with Samsung any more.

Here is an update to my service problem. This particular independant
service center in not in the very best financial position with
Samsung. Why they could not order the part was not and would not be
explained. Samsung then arranged for another service organization to
service the TV. They called and told me that they do service TV's in
the home and that they would have to pick up the TV. They picked it up
right away on the 13th of this month and told me that they would
diagnose the problem the next day and call me. After two days I called
and they have not even looked at it yet. I called Samsung and they
told me they would call them. I was placed on hold while the Samsung
customer service rep called and then relayed to me that they would
look at the TV in their normal rountine. I then asked who they spoke
to at the service center and the rep did not know. Did they call? i
don't have a lot of confidence. My next step is to call Walmart and
see if they will refund my purchase.

My next step would be Small Claims Court.
