Well I have finished the installation after some heartache........mainly
due to the supplier not putting everything in the box and not thinking about
other things I would require. I spoke to him before placing my order so he
was fully aware it was for a complete system installation. But hey it's up
and HD 1080i is running on my Tosh with excellent quality.

Would I do it again, well I suppose so now that I have one of those
direction meters........£9.75 from Curry's. If you are going to set up your
own, pop down to Curry's and buy one of these gadgets. Without it I tried
for 30 minutes to set up the dish before deciding to nip to my local outlet
and buy one. Once connected it took about 1 minute to find the signal.

The parts, including the meter, came to £100 so I saved about £50, but
gained much experience.

I am going to buy some better quality F connectors though.

Just one Q for the Humax users. Is there a setting whereby I can tone down
the screen on the player itself. They are very bright digits about 200mm
below the screen. When concentrating on the picture one does not really
notice the brightness but it would be good to tone it down a little.

it found 107 channels, to many to list immediately............I have yet to
experience them all. Over the next few days I will list the HD ones and my
thoughts.

F connectors need to exactly match the particular cable you are using.
www.Satcure.co.uk is a good source

If you are refering to the Humax HDR, then I think the answer is no, but
the subject has arisen in the digital spy forum.

HD one(s)...
HD One (BBCHD)
:P
ITV has some, but not a lot..
Also, the source material may not be 1080, but BBC(HD) and ITV(HD) should
still look great in comparision.

Yes thanks I am considering those from Satcure as I should have when I
bought the complete system by the look of it. The company I used, who share
remain nameless, were poor.

So hopefully the bright display may be a future software mod. A piece of
blue acetate behind the door for the moment then............

yes, I was thinking programs, silly me and the Humax does say 1080i when on
such a channel so I assume it must mean the source.

I took the glare right down on my Humax HDR by inserting a red sweet
wrapper film behind the drop down flap. It is still readable in a tasty red
glow :-)

please can you specify the sweet and I'll nip down our Tesco Express :-).

I did the same with a bedside radio/clock............oh the wife has just
said she has some Blue Velum.............nice.

how are you finding the HDR, I really enjoyed the rugby yesterday and it
does make a lot of difference to the watchability......IMHO...that is.

anyone living in Winchester want to hire a Sat meter.............what do we
do with it after use............bung it in a drawer somewhere until next
time, when it will be lost to the world.
