Default CD tracks on Panasonic DMR-EX768EB

Anyone know how to display and control audio CD track selection on
a Panasonic DMR-EX768EB?

Manual page 19, 36 and 37

Middle of page 37, mentions "Direct Play"

"During playback, you can access specific titles or scenes through
direct entry of the numbered buttons"

Is there _anything_ at all on the screen?

Is I select the HD and then the back to disc it says CD in the top
right of the screen. If I press Play, it plays but getting into the
mode when the tracks are displayed and can be selected or just stepped
forward and back has defeated me. Stepping DVD's works but not CDs.

The 'Direct Navigator' works on my EX-77 as it does on a disc containing
JPG picture files and folders.

There is no track listing for CDs at all on the Panasonic machines. You
can step forward and back through the tracks with the and buttons,
key in a digit or digits followed by OK, or press Display and set repeat
to Off, Track or All. Pressing Status twice gives you a readout of the
track number and time.

That's your lot, really.

I wouldn't have minded that, but there's one really annoying featu
when the CD finishes my Panasonic switches back to TV, which given the
relative volume levels and program quality typically results in
something horrible blaring out of my loudspeakers as soon as the music
finishes.

If it's like mine, it won't do that has long as you have a programmed
recording, in which case it goes to the grey screen. Even if there's
nothing you want to be recorded, it's easy to program a dummy recording up
to a month hence, which will ensure that you can use the machine for
playback only without being bothered by the broadcasts until you want them.
