Default Blu-ray player sales to peak in 2013

FEB. 11 | U.S. Blu-ray Disc player sales and consumer spending on
high-definition discs will both jump more than tenfold within the next four
years, after which high-def disc spending growth will slow while Blu-ray
player demand will drop as broadband advancements boost the popularity of
video-on-demand over the Internet, according to SNL Kagan.

Will the digital transition be complete by then, or is *it* the reason?

Why do you think it's the end of the world?

When Blu-Ray makes a DVD recorder, then count me in. A machine that
only plays is of no use to me.

There are a lot of Blu-ray burners for computers.

As far as stand-alone units go, there are over a dozen models available -
but only in Japan. Copyright concerns have kept them out of the US. But
rumor has it that BD recorders will make their debut on this side of the
Pacific later this year.
