The more I think about this switch, the more questions I have. So many
that I've decided to 'do nothing' until after the switch. Then there won't be so much speculation and false information out there. I have Dish Satellite, which will either include local abc, nbc etc or charge $6 a month extra after the switch. Am I right in assuming that various local x.x digital channels (such as distant, but receivable PBS stations) won't be available until I get ANOTHER converter box, or a new tv? I just don't believe Dish will include all the available 'local' digital channels...but maybe I'm wrong. This households main tv is not digital. Seems like the government was hoping everyone would just go out and buy a couple $500 televisions before the switch......yeah....right. Brian |

Brian NONE of the video vendors (satellite and cable) provide ALL the OTA channels and subchannels. However, both satellite providers do have receivers (or an add on box for DirecTV) that have ATSC (OTA) tuners so that you can pick up all your local OTA channels. You should know that those receivers are receivers (they get SD channels as well) but you don't HAVE to have an HD receiver to view them (all HD receivers have an SD out connection). -- Bill R. e-mail address disguised to reduce spam |

Brian if it's anything like here in the uk, if you have a satellite tuner box, that already is a digital tuner - that will continue to connect to your tv just as before. -- Gareth. that fly...... is your magic wand.... |

Thanks for that link. The $5 fee is why I'm considering switching to Direct TV. As I understand it, they won't be charging extra for locals. brian wrote: I have Dish Satellite, which will either include local abc, nbc etc or charge $6 a month extra after the switch.
