You will not see any legal ones..
HDMI's love was pushed because of HDCP.. many of the rules behind HDCP means
we will likely not see a recorder we can simply buy and put in the middle.
You can however buy dongles to do this now, but because of the way it is set
up it means we probably wont see any HDMI/HDCP input sockets on PVR's.
Componet can deliver just as well so it would be worth looking for componet
inputs.

HDMI won't replace SCART. There'll always be a need for basic AV
connections. HDMI and SCART are quite different.

Define 'always'.
SCART will disappear at around the same time SD disappears.

Of course it will at some point.

Are there any 405 line TVs left?

Sorry not agree that any of the minor channels will go HD.
The main 5 not showing much interest either.
BBC1 and 2 nothing. A few hours a night on a sort of test channel called
BBC HD.
ITV1 2 or 3 programmes per week.
Ch4 not on my Freesat
FIVE nothing.

From what I hear Sky more interested in HD than those I mention.

Well, I'll just stick with my SCART cables, RGB switch box and CRT telly until
something fails seriously enough to give me a reason to change, but in the
meantime everything works just fine and I've got more important things to
worry about.

Most of the programmes are crap anyway; would HDMI make them look any better?

I think SD will be here for a very long time.
