Thats a good point. A better term is probably == Analog signal is
terminating. I have been watching in 720p or 1080i for over a year as well. I am guilty of using the term switchover. It will be a switchover for those only running on the analog sets because if they do not have cable or sat. they will need to buy either an hdtv with a uhf/vhf antenna or buy the digital converter box along with the antenna. Kevin check out my new deals site for Great Savings http://www.dealfrogger.com http://www.tdso.net is another great saving site too. And might occur for some stations in some markets even before any new deadline, as they calculate that it's better to cut off a few low-income, low-sophistication viewers than to bear the cost of operating an additional transmitter for another four months. Local TV stations are in a bind right now, as advertising revenue, especially that from car dealers (the biggest sector of local advertising) has dropped precipitously. And I think a few US stations have already made arrangements to sell their analog hardware to stations in Mexico and other countries where analog broadcasting will continue for several years. |

Well, the "switchover" is for the consumer, not the broadcaster (in most cases). |

The switchover (by your definition) has already happened for millions. |

The stations will continue (for a while) to produce the analog signal for cablecast on the analog range. Eventually even that will disappear (in 3 yrs). |
