Conventional wisdom is that bankruptcy sales are ripoffs, since the discounts are not based on the "normal" selling price, but on some imaginary price set by the liquidator. It might be fun if people who've actually gone to Circuit City let the rest of us know what they've seen in the way of prices on items we might recognize. -- Bert Hyman St. Paul, MN |

Thumper I love the idea of getting a good deal, but there usually isn't any particular item that I actually need, yet still wait around till it goes on sale. Even if I go in there and discover that they have Myst V for $5, or Batman Begins on Blu-ray for $8, those are obviously things I was able to do without. The coincidence of an item going on sale, and that it also happens to be an item that I've needed but declined solely because the price was prohibitive, never seems to happen for me. It won't be Doctor Who Seasons 1 and 2 for $25. Instead, if anything, I would probably end up buying some item like a surge protector, thinking "Well, this price seems pretty good. I think I could use another of these." |

I didn't bother going back. |

Anyone been to CC for the big sales? Any good deals? One store in Baltimore area I went to monday said only 10% off all items unless posted on the item. 30% off on cables. So the 33$ web cam I was looking at was now 30$ and I've seen it at newegg for 28, maybe 24$ with free shipping. Granted that's splitting hairs and yes I have to wait for 3 days to save 2$ and I haven't done it yet so I've wasted 5 days.... But there is no returns!!!! So if you get a bad item, what can you do? |

"Rastamon" wrote in message ... Anyone been to CC for the big sales? Any good deals? I got a promotional coupon for a whopping 10% off "anything" over $100 in purchases. When I got my magnifying glass out, and I'm not kidding, it turns out that the coupon does not apply to virtually everything a person could conceivable want. No good on software, movies, music, televisions, stereo equipment, speakers, modems, computers, printers, vacuum cleaners, phones . . . well, you get the idea. What it comes down down to with Circuit City is simple: They Suck. I have purchased items at my local Circuit City and they were just fine. As a company, they stink. Unless and until they start marking everything down from their store prices of six months ago by at least 50%, I'm not interested in their little sales thing they have going on. |

Gift cards? just kidding.... What it comes down down to with Circuit City is simple: They Suck. I have purchased items at my local Circuit City and they were just fine. As a company, they stink. There is one near me, but I'm too lazy to go in to see what they have to offer. They did have some great prices on some DVDs during Christmas. I remember one chain that went bankrupt about 15 years ago. I forget the name, but it was not Good Guys, they went bankrupt about 8 years ago. I went to the final liquidation sale, and picked up some Mini-Discs (that's when they were still current), I got a good collection for under a $100. |
