Default $ky pay once

Does anyone know if this package includes BBC HD? All BBC channels are
supposed to be subscription free as far as I am aware.

I am still psyching myself up (i.e persuading SWIMBO) to get a freesat
TV (probably the Panny 37" LCD) and this would seem a good way to get a
dish which I don't presently have.

Sky's PayOnce reciever doesnt allow viewing of H.264 or DVB-S2 content (so
no, no BBC or ITV hd).

I do however think it's possible for you to buy the FreeSatFromSky and move
the activated card to a Trex or Diablo cam inside a freesat box (if it has a
CI slot and works with said cam) to pick up C4HD. C4HD is not listed as a
free station so it could be removed from a basic access viewing card (just
so you know).

The £199 SkyHD (less VAT change) STB from Tesco *does* - but it might need
effort to find now! This is an HD STB with two months of Sky Movies and some
Mixes included. If cancelled after two months it will also stop working as
a Sky+ STB - unless for a subscription of £10/month

Not advised! Sky are expected to change smartcards this spring and it is
unknown if this will continue to work!

Going by the other replies I may have this completely wrong but I thought
the point of Freesat was that you don't have to pay any money at all to Sky.
The Panny Freesat models have built in Freesat tuners so all you need to do
is buy a dish, get it installed and tune the tele in to get free BBCHD, C4HD
and ITVHD. No smartcard required.

Surely if you pay money to Sky you'll end up with a Sky box which you don't
need?

You don't get C4HD, that is encrypted and needs a sky card.

I didn't know that. C4 certainly don't advertise it as being a Sky only
thing.

C4HD is FTV - it needs a Sky card and STB but *NOT* a subscription.

Any Sky smartcard (even a expired subscription or FreeSatFromSky one) will
decode it.

My thinking was: I've been quoted £90 - £100 for just the dish and
connecting leads etc fitted, the $ky offer appears to be £75 inc box. I
heard you could get the installer to put in a twin or quad LNB and two
downleads so I could run the panny direct from one and possibly have sat
in the bedroom telly from the other, for the same or similar money. I
don't really want to pay the awful aussie anything, he's too rich now,
but this looks a good bet!
