Just shows these 'phone in voting shows are fiddled. Proves once again the
BBC are as bad as the rest. Wonder which of the 3 couples the BBC producers have already chosen to be winners. I for one no trust in them. Anyone heard how many complaints BBC have received also Ofcom? Regards, David Please reply to News Group |

"Agamemnoel" wrote in message . uk... Holby actor Tom, 31, fully expected to face one of the other contestants in the dance off after he scored lowest on the judges' leader board. He burst into tears when he heard he was in the final and all three contestants hugged. Minutes earlier presenters Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly announced suddenly the phone lines had been frozen and voting had stopped, before telling the audience all three were through. A notice was flashed up at the end to tell viewers their votes would not be wasted and would be carried over to next Saturday's final. And doing that will only put Tom and Camillia at an unfair disadvantage since their supporters would not have wasted their money voting for them last night since they know they couldn't possibly be saved by the vote. The BBC must neutralise the votes and give the viewers who voted their money back. What went wrong? The top couple get three points, second two, last one. Rachel and Lisa tied for top in the judges' scoring, so each got three points. Tom came last with one point. Even if he won the public vote and got three points he would have just four. Rachel and Lisa would then get either one or two points from the public vote giving them four or five. That left Tom in the dance off. But as the public were asked to vote to save him - and he could not be - the BBC shelved the vote. It's on a digital only channel, BBCHD, and it is interactive television because of the phone voting thus I have every right to post about it on an interactive digital television forum. Further more John Barrowman the star of Doctor Who and spin-off series Torchwood was on it and its sister programme It Takes Two a couple of weeks ago therefore I have every right to post about it in a Doctor Who forum. I thought so, nothing. Do us all a favour and bugger off forever old chap. I thought so and another fool and an unsociable troll. Did the people you voted for not make it through or something? From the day John Sergeant quit I thought the BBC would roll over the votes from the semi-final to the final, but I assumed they would tell the audience first, before they voted. I didn't vote since there was no chance of Tom & Camilla being saved from the dance off with the top two couples on 3 points each and Tom & Camilla on 1 point. The audience should have been told this before the lines were opened, but they were not and the vote should never have gone ahead. The rules were changed at the last moment to keep them all in. To be honest, I don't watch any of that reality TV ****, and viewers who waste their time texting or phoning in to those shows are, in my opinion, just idiots. What's that old saying, a fool and his money are easily parted? So true. That's the way I look at all those phone-in type of thing. A waste of time, and money. But each to their own and all that... If the BBC had any sense they'd have allowed everyone to vote for the contestants on Strictly and on every other interactive show on the Internet and then they wouldn't have to be forced to give people back their money. Ofcom should ban telephone voting once and for all. Why? Are you too weak-willed to resist the temptation to vote by telephone if they ask you to? Tell you what, Aggy - make sure you never watch the shopping channels or you'll be broke in two days. Phil |

The audience should have been told this before the lines were opened, but they were not and the vote should never have gone ahead. The rules were changed at the last moment to keep them all in. This is being discussed elsewhere, for example: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/f...play.php?f=100 (many threads) There was a legal problem that the BBC did not realise until the last minute. The public were being asked to vote for the couple they wanted to see in the final. The problem was that it was impossible for Tom & Camilla to get into the final however many votes they got from the public. That meant that supporters of Tom & Camilla were being invited to spend their money trying to do something that was impossible. The rules had to be changed at the last minute to get over this problem. The BBC chose to do it the way they did. You suggest that they should have adopted a different rule change by not going ahead with the phone vote. Either way they had to change the rules, and to do it in the most honest way within the spirit of the competition. Anyway, back to other things. This is OT in uk.tech.digital-tv. |

Strictly Come Dancing sparks viewer fury over phone fiasco as all three contestants make the final By Karen Rockett, sundaymirror.co.uk 14/12/2008 On one message board a viewer, posting as CoolGloo, wrote: "X Factor final is on, the BBC want to beat it in the ratings and we just wasted Saturday evening - plus cash if you voted." Yes, they did waste Saturday evening if they watched it - how's that different from any other week? Or most other TV shows? "We found ourselves in a unique situation because of the way the voting system works. Because Tom Chambers could not be saved by the public vote we felt it wasn't fair because he couldn't be saved from the dance off. This explains a lot about the workings of the BBC: they think it's unfair to sack people who aren't any good. Phil |
