Or the 40L4000 on offer in Sainsburys for £582?
My understanding is that the 40V comes with 3 HDMI sockets and a 'piano
black' finish. The 40L has two HDMI and a matt finish - but otherwise is
exactly the same hardware - and a browse through the specs on the Sony site
confirms this.
If you know anyone working in Sainsburys, could get a very good deal!

Im tempted to purchase this one, pound for pound and a lot of
comparisons later I think is a good telly for the money, anyone think
I could do better with that money.

No, seems great price for a 40V and a five year gaurantee (not sure what
they mean by 'in store five year gaurantee').
The only thing to watch for is the PC input - that is what stopped me from
getting one of the Sainsburys' 40L's
I thought LCD would have moved on, but suprisingly these Sonys have the old
issues of PC input (d-sub or HDMI) only going upto 1280*1024 resolution, and
only at 60Hz. This rules it out for HTPC use because you really do need
native resolution, and ideally 50Hz input for all our 25fps video, to avoid
the judders. Of course you could put a PC into TV mode and use 1920*1080
over HDMI - it should work but the Sony manual says PC use at this
resolution not supported... I didn't want to risk it....
