Nice harness he was wearing, as they pointed out, but what did he attach
it too?

Yeah, that silicone around the hole being missing really affects Setanta
reception.

Interesting ladder to use.

Was at a customers house today where they where getting poor Setanta
reception. As it turned out the box was faulty and dish was fine. Bad tuner.

Setanta had talked him through a few things then told him that he would
need to contact a local installer to check the dish/box.

I've been to several jobs like this and usually the tuner of the old
pace box rather than the dish...

The guy was just trying to be clever. "I'm the big ****in' expert!"

Not exactly industrial grade was it?

I suppose Setanta are really getting a free ride on the back of Sky's
dish/box universe.

Every communal system we do turns up a few faulty boxes. It's tedious.

On Watchdog they'd been telling people who spent a fortune hanging on the
phone that they would "boost the signal to their box" - this piece of
absurdity went unchallenged by all the experts later on. :-(

Yes the call center not knowing difference between satellite and terrestrial
transmission. Looks like CS talking digital terrestrial turn up of power
following analogue switch off.

Surely he was just in the middle of listing the catalogue of horrors that
is part of many installations carried out by Sky, but then got cut off?
It's true that the brick was blown, the hole wasn't sealed, the dish only
had two bolts etc. I'm delighted that that part of the sentence survived
the editing process, and hopefully as a result of it people will be a bit
more wary of shoddy Sky installers in future.

Perhaps the problem was he was cut-off mid-sentence, and the editing may
have made him sound more pompous than he was. The bit about Eurobird being
in a different location to Asda 2A/B/C/D wasn't explained simply enough,
and would have been far clearer with a simple graphic (enhanced in the
style of "Sky At Night" graphics) IMHO.

Well since Sky are members of the CAI and Kevin is the CAI's inspector,
surely he should be conducting an investigation into Sky, Sky's
installers, their workmanship and whom they use as subcontractors.

Why a graphic? Eurobird is in the sky, ASDA is down the road :-)
