There are a coupls of thinsg that which occasioanlly gets right- their paint tests, and some domestic appliance tests. - the reliability info is not bad, although generally based on small sample sizes. For a lot of other info they are pretty poor, and getting a lot worse now that they've adopted a popular magazine type format where a lot of products get a mention without any decent review. I gave up on which when they gave a mnention to a B&Q barbecue unit, with built in mp3 speakers and said it would be useful... the basic idea just strikes me as crap gimmick. cheers David |

This resulted in virtualy no sales for GEC sets I think you are overestimating the circulation and influence of Which? More likely it's just that it took more than an arrangement with a Japanese company to overcome the (historically accurate) perception of British goods as less reliable than Japanese ones. I might have made the same choice even if I knew they came off the same production line: there was still plenty of scope for GEC to bugger it up in some way. -- Richard -- Please remember to mention me / in tapes you leave behind. |

It's on an industrial state reasonably close to the centre (but can be a bit awkward to find, as it's not well signed). I was surprised to find that it is free - appears to be independently run by former Philips employees - and contains lots of stuff you've forgotten ever existed (assuming you ever encountered it the first time round!) Anyone remember the Philips one-knob radio? They've got several - I'll leave to others to describe them (assuming anybody else can remember one!) Terry |
