Default What am I missing here?

Two Panasonic full HD (1080p) plasma TVs - the TH42PZ80 and the TH42PZ85B.
At Richer Sounds, the Z80 is £130 cheaper than the Z85B but according to
their "compare" list, the only difference is the physical dimensions -
electronically they appear to be the same. If that's the case, why would
anyone pay £130 more than they need to? And why would Panasonic produce two
different (identical) models? What am I missing?

It's piggy in the middle of TH42PZ85 for Picture and TH42PX80 for Sound
according to Richer's advertising blurb at
http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=PANA-TH42PZ80

Best trot along to the Panasonic web sites and read the specs. For
something as this I tend to download and read the instruction manuals,
but then I am supping a pan galactic gargle blaster with waaaay too much
ol' janx spirit when I'm doing that....

That's not for everyone. Hic. :-)

Looks like the PZ80 has been superseded by the PZ81. The PZ85 froogles
cheaper than the PZ81, but dearer than the PZ80.

The PZ81 is pretty much the same as the PZ80 but with the addition of a
Freesat tuner.

I could be wrong but isn't the difference the 100Hz scanning on products
with an 85 in the code?

No, it's definitely not that. I can't give you a direct link because it
won't allow it but, if you go he
http://www.richersounds.com/productl...&sgroup=PLASMA
and tick the boxes for both the PZ80 and PZ85B, then click on the "Compare"
link, a new window opens with all the features of each telly listed
side-by-side - and they're identical except for the physical size.

IMHO If you want to seriously compare two products then get their specs
from the manufacturer(s) rather than relying on the retailer.

If you go to:

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_G...sCategory.html

and tick the two models it shows differences - mainly in the sound
system but also the 85 variant has a top-up-tv card slot.
