Is anyone else watching Xfactor? Absolutely terrible sound quality yet
again this week. I don't want canned screaming and shouting at the same level as people talking or overcompressed and distorted audio. Whoever is in charge of the sound must be almost deaf, there is no way that sort of poor quality, overcompression, poor mixing and distortion would be aloowed out on anything else. Oh back to the distortion again! |

When the singer is bad they bring in a choir or raise the sound from the screaming and shouting audience. If you are having trouble hearing the singers in all of their glory go figure why the poor sound engineer has been given the instruction to disguise the vocal range of the performers. John Sergeant only quit the X-factor because his performances were showing up the poor quality of the other contestants, and the judges didn't like this. -- Alan news2006 {at} amac {dot} f2s {dot} com |

Ah yes, I never watch it, but I don't think any broadcaster is actually
doing any engineering of late. The BBC streaming audio on their local stations is crap, and stereo crap in some cases like Ulster, Scotland and Wales. Its real crap so its muddled strangled audio as well, and in the case of Guernsey, over compressed and toppy crap, which I've told them of and its still the same. I think the rot set in some years ago when automatic levels were obviously in use on most concerts on all channels. Must save a lot of dosh on engineers. Yes, its not exactly the cultural high ground is it?
However, its no excuse for not doing a bit of simple setting up for overload and limiting is it?
