It's not spam.

It's not OT.

What's your problem?

Jealousy because he is incapable of producing such a humourous piece.

Are we to understand that the plan to despatch the wife to the mother
in law's home did not work, otherwise why would the mother in law
be present?

So really, I was wondering if you wise chaps could help out. Is it
true that tinsel can affect your reception?

I would guess that tinsel might cause multi-path reflection problems
for analog reception. For digital, perhaps it would reduce the
signal strength and or quality?

Does the colour of the tinsel make any difference?

The color of the tinsel should not make any difference unless
the pigmentation for certain colors contains more metal, but
this would presumably still be insignificant to the use of
metal based tinsel.

Of course, if the tinsel is plastic based, then it should
have no effect whatsoever either on analog or digital reception.

Recall that naval vessels uses "metallic tinsel" to try and
confuse incoming Exocet missiles.

Can I compensate for any effect the tinsel might have with a booster?

Set back/top amplifiers should be avoided at all costs -- a mast based
pre-amplifier is always the better solution, but will only make matters
worse in areas of high signal strength.

I suppose tinsel could affect it if cut to the right wavelength (I
read somewhere in 1/4 wavelengths) but more affective if thrown out of
WWII bombers in handfuls. ;-)

Is that why you felt the need to repost every single word of it?

It seems that in her youth she had
worked for the BBC Engineering Information Dept as a tea lady, and had
picked up various facts by osmosis.

I bet she could whistle "Walk and Talk"

I don't know, but I'd guess that tree light flashers could cause some
interference.

Owain

I don't use them because they annoy my pet rat.
