First thing i saw yesterday was "The scheduled programme cannot be received via Freesat" or something similar. So, will there be only a crippled version of Five on Freesat? What programme was it ? AIUI there's a rights clash with some programmes also shown by Ireland's RTE and TV3 ? -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. |

The UK-Free website (which has been known to post inaccurate information from time to time) is saying that C5 will shortly be available FTA on a BBC 2D transponder; 10773MHz Horizontal, 22.5, 5/6. http://www.ukfree.tv/fullstory.php?storyid=1107051486 That does makes sense given that C5 will be on BBC DTT Mux B starting with Selkirk on Nov 20th, and it's in the Beeb's interest as Freesat stakeholders to help C5 go FTA. Got this email today.... Quote... FIVE CONFIRMED ON FREESAT I am very pleased to tell you there is now an official date for Five to launch on Freesat. You may already know how to add it manually since its appearance FTA this week but by the 18th of this month, you won’t need to do this. Also, all existing Freesat receivers will have Five automatically added at the same time. So if you or your customers have been waiting for Five to join the Freesat party, there’s no need to wait any more. Your Eurosat Branch has stocks of SD (the lowest cost Freesat option) plus HD (the only way to get official free and exclusive Freesat HD content) plus can now take your advance orders for the latest Humax twin Tuner Freesat HD PVR arriving later this month. Freesat, the free-to-air digital satellite TV service, today announced the forthcoming addition of Five onto the platform on Tuesday November 18. Since launching in 1997, Five has developed a strong reputation for a wide mix of entertainment, documentaries, features, news, sport and children’s programmes. The channel’s Autumn schedule includes: Paul Merton in India, 1968 Unseen, Dangerous Adventures for Boys, Unbreakable and Axe Men. Commenting on the addition of Five to the service, Freesat MD Emma Scott said “We’ve been looking forward to welcoming Five onto Freesat since we launched – and we know viewers have too. Five is a fantastic addition and we’re thrilled that the large number of homes that have already chosen Freesat will now be able to enjoy Five alongside around 140 other channels available without a subscription or contract.” Charles Constable, Director of Strategy at Five, said “I am delighted that Five will be available to Freesat viewers. Our launch will support three of Five’s objectives: to be universally available throughout the UK, to let viewers watch our programmes on the platform of their choice, and to enable as many people as possible to watch Five free of charge.” Five will automatically be added via viewers’ Freesat digital boxes or integrated TVs to channel 105, so viewers will not need to take any action to access the channel. Contact your Branch now for any questions and to place your orders! ....Un-Quote. -- Glenn Millar - TV Aerials www.glennmillar.plus.com |

Light of Aria complained: with DOG s**t smeared over. BUT, at least the new DOG on Five is translucent and nowhere near as obtrusive as the vile shocking pink in-your-face DOG on BBC-3. |

BUT, at least the new DOG on Five is translucent and nowhere near as obtrusive as the vile shocking pink in-your-face DOG on BBC-3. I don't watch C5 as a rule but I was passing TV showing C5 and the DOG was very obvious and much more obtrusive than it was a few months ago. I've never watched BBC3 so I can't comment on their DOG. On the subject of DOGs I have a theory on why they are really used -- to check the audience level. When the complaints about DOGs finally drop to zero then they will know they have driven all their viewers away. -- (\__/) M.
